Making History - George Henry White

Richard Wilson made history in North Carolina as the first African American artist to have a portrait publicly displayed in a state courthouse. His painting is prominently featured in the Edgecombe County Superior Courthouse in Tarboro, NC. The portrait honors George Henry White, the last former slave to serve in Congress.
